Special Education Teacher – Alaska (School-Based)

Pay Rate: $58/hour (Local)
Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will provide instructional and support services to K–12 students receiving special education services. Working under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the teacher will collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized educational programs that support student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with disabilities
- Participate in IEP development, planning, and implementation
- Provide tutorial assistance and academic support
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
- Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid Alaska Teaching Certificate (required for submission)
- Minimum one year of teaching experience (preferred)
- Special Education certification/endorsement preferred
- Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
- Current CPR certification if applicable
- TB screening and health clearance as required
- Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
