Special Education Teacher – PreK Level

Location: Gurnee, IL
Pay Rate: Up to $65/hr
Schedule: 32 hours per week
Contract Duration: 2025–2026 School Year

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instructional services to PreK students in a self-contained classroom setting. This role focuses on individualized education programs, early childhood development, and collaboration with general education staff to ensure inclusive and supportive learning environments. The ideal candidate is passionate about early education and demonstrates strong expertise in special education practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for PreK students.
  • Deliver specialized instruction and support in a self-contained classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to promote student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all applicable regulations and professional standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to program planning and evaluation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
  • Certification:
    • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
    • Endorsements: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) and Early Childhood Education (ECE) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year in a teaching environment (preferred).
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Current CPR certification (if applicable).
  • Health and TB clearance per state or contract requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
