Part-Time Position (Afternoons only, 1:1 interpreting for a preschooler
About the Role
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Using American Sign Language (ASL), interpreters ensure students have full access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions, supporting their academic success and inclusion.
Minimum Requirements
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field (preferred)
- State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification (as required by state or client)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable)
- Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
